Convert fen to square foot

Homes in the US, Canada, the UK, India and much of the Commonwealth are advertised in square feet, and 1 m² is 10.76 sq ft, so a 70 m² flat is 750 sq ft; a new American house averages some 2,300 sq ft, about 215 m². Offices are let at so many dollars per square foot a year. The square yard, 9 sq ft or 0.84 m², survives for carpets and in Indian plot sizes (the 'gaj'), and the square inch, 6.45 cm², in engineering, where a pressure in psi is a force per square inch.

Chinese farmland is measured in mu (亩), fixed since 1929 at one fifteenth of a hectare, 666⅔ m²; it remains the unit of agricultural statistics and land contracts in China. A hundred mu make a qing (顷), and a mu divides into 10 fen (分) and 100 li (厘).
