Electric car efficiency

Europe quotes an electric car's consumption in kWh per 100 km, where lower is better; typical cars use 15–20 kWh/100 km, and 100 Wh/km is 10 kWh/100 km. The UK and US quote miles per kWh, where higher is better: 4 mi/kWh is 15.5 kWh/100 km. The US window sticker also shows MPGe, miles per gallon equivalent, which treats 33.7 kWh (the energy in a US gallon of petrol) as one gallon: 100 MPGe is about 21 kWh/100 km. None of these includes charging losses, which add roughly 10 %.
