1 H = 1000 mH
1 mH = 0.001 H
Farad and henry
Both units are large for everyday components. A farad is an enormous capacitance: the capacitors on a circuit board are picofarads to microfarads, a smoothing capacitor in a power supply a few thousand µF, and only supercapacitors reach hundreds or thousands of farads. Inductors likewise range from nanohenries in radio circuits to millihenries in filters and power supplies; a henry is a hefty iron-cored coil. Both units are named after 19th-century pioneers of electromagnetism, Michael Faraday and Joseph Henry.
