Tesla and gauss
One tesla is 10,000 gauss, and the gauss (CGS) is still common in magnet catalogues and geophysics. The Earth's field is 25–65 µT (0.25–0.65 G), a fridge magnet about 5 mT, a neodymium magnet at its surface up to 1.4 T, and a clinical MRI scanner 1.5 or 3 T, research scanners up to 7 T and beyond. The gamma, 1 nT, is the unit of magnetic surveys, where anomalies of a few gammas reveal buried structures and iron.
