This is a translation for your convenience. UnitJuggler is operated from Germany; the German version is the legally binding one.

This privacy policy informs you, pursuant to Articles 13 and 14 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which personal data we process when you visit unitjuggler.com and what rights you have.

No data protection officer has been appointed, as the legal requirements for this are not met.

2. Principles

UnitJuggler is a unit converter. No registration is required, there are no user accounts, and we do not ask for names, addresses or payment details. The values you enter are used solely to perform the calculation and are not stored permanently. We do not sell data to third parties.

3. Hosting

This website is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The servers are located in Germany, that is, within the European Union. Hetzner processes the data arising when the website is accessed exclusively on our behalf and according to our instructions; a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure and efficient operation of the website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

4. Server log files

Each time a page is accessed, the server automatically collects data transmitted by your browser:

IP address of the requesting device
date and time of access
name and URL of the page requested
amount of data transferred and notification of successful retrieval
browser type and version, operating system
previously visited page (referrer), where transmitted

This data is technically necessary to deliver the website, to guarantee its stability and security and to defend against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. This data is not merged with other data sources. Log files are deleted after 30 days at the latest.

5. Storage on your device (cookies and local storage)

UnitJuggler does not set any cookies of its own. We store only two items in your browser's local storage:

your chosen appearance (light or dark theme)
your choice in the cookie banner

Both remain on your device, are never transmitted to us, and are exempt from consent under § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG because they are strictly necessary to provide the service you have expressly requested.

All other storage and read operations, in particular by Google Analytics, take place only after your express consent (§ 25 (1) TDDDG, Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). Without consent, the corresponding scripts are not loaded. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time with effect for the future via the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of the page. The lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal remains unaffected.

6. Google Analytics

Following your consent we use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to analyse how the website is used. The data processed includes a truncated IP address, the date and duration of the visit, the pages viewed, approximate location, device type, browser and operating system. IP anonymisation is enabled, so your IP address is truncated within the EU or the EEA before further processing.

The purpose is the statistical analysis of usage in order to improve the content and structure of the website. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, § 25 (1) TDDDG). Transfer to Google LLC in the USA may take place. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission determined an adequate level of data protection by decision of 10 July 2023. The data is deleted after 14 months at the latest.

7. Search and exchange rates

The search box on the home page queries an endpoint on our own server (/api/search). The search term is used only to answer the request and is not stored separately. Exchange rates for the currency category are fetched by our server itself from the European Central Bank reference rate feed; your browser does not contact any third party for this.

8. No disclosure, no automated decision-making

Your data is disclosed only to the recipients named in this policy and only for the purposes stated. We do not process special categories of personal data within the meaning of Art. 9 GDPR. There is no automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.

9. Your rights

In relation to the personal data concerning you, you have the following rights:

11. Encryption

For security reasons this website uses TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the address bar of your browser starting with "https://".

12. Changes

We update this privacy policy when the legal situation or the services used on this website change. The version published here applies in each case.
